DAY 03: SALTA - QUEBRADA DE HUMAHUACA
We will visit the Quebrada de Humahuaca and the small towns stopped in time that are presented along it, inhabited by mestizo population. The villages maintain the original layout with irregular roads up to the hills and the constructions with adobe or stone without cement, with mud and straw roofs. Of all the buildings in these villages, the one that stands out is the church, which is humble and small, dating from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.
The itinerary runs through the town of Purmamarca, famous for its hill of the Seven Colors, with red, orange, yellow and violet tones, depending on the time of day and the presence of the sun. Maimará is known for the hill Paleta del Pintor, also of a very attractive color. Then we continue to Tilcara, one of the largest towns in the ravine, known for its Pucara, an old fortress inhabited by indigenous people. You will visit the monument that marks the route of the Tropic of Capricorn in Huacalera. After visiting the town of Uquía we arrive at Humahuaca. This town has the largest population of the ravine and still has some sectors of narrow and very charming streets. Here you can visit the Monument to Independence, which represents the domination suffered in the Hispanic period, along with the image of a man achieving freedom. We returned to Salta late afternoon.

DAY 04: SALTA – CAFAYATE
Today we will visit the Calchaquí Valleys starting the tour in the Lerma Valley, an area of tobacco, cotton, sugar cane and fruit crops among others. We will take a tour along the Rio de las Conchas where we can see different geographical forms in the mountains, product of erosion over the years. The formations have names that identify them, such as Devil's Throat and Amphitheater and their origins date back more than sixty million years. The landscape that we will see is a product of the dryness and aridity of the environment. We advance towards the border with the province of Tucumán and thanks to the geographical variety that is presented here, we begin to see extensions of vineyards. We are approaching the area of Cafayate where the Torrontés grape wine known worldwide for its excellent quality is produced. We will know this charming town located around a lively square with a lot of life both day and night. To complete this visit, we will go to one of the qualified wineries of Cafayate to learn about the wine process and taste the varieties offered here. We return to Salta late afternoon.
